North Korea conducts ballistic missile test

North Korea has fired a ballistic missile in the first such test since Donald Trump took office as US president.

Mr Trump guaranteed Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe that "America remains behind Japan, its awesome partner, 100%".

The rocket flew east towards the Sea of Japan for around 500km (300 miles), South Korean authorities say.

Mr Abe said the test was "totally excruciating". Japanese authorities say the rocket did not achieve its waters.

Talking at a joint meeting amid a visit to the US, Mr Abe included that Mr Trump had likewise guaranteed him that he was resolved to "further implementing our cooperation".

Amid his race crusade, Mr Trump said US barrier duties to Japan and South Korea were unjustifiable and furthermore called for Japan to pay the full cost of positioning US troops on its dirt.

North Korea has directed various atomic and rocket tests in the previous year that proceed to alert and outrage the district.

The tests are in repudiation of UN resolutions intended to check the North's atomic exercises.

Sunday's dispatch occurred at 07:55 neighborhood time (22:55 GMT Saturday) from the Banghyon air construct in North Pyongan territory in light of the west side of the Korean landmass.

The rocket achieved an elevation of around 550km (350 miles), the South Korean military said.

The military said it seemed, by all accounts, to be a Musudan middle of the road run rocket, fit for flying up to 4,000km and achieving the US region of Guam in the Pacific Ocean.

In January, North Korean pioneer Kim Jong-un cautioned that his military was near trying long-go rockets equipped for achieving the United States terrain and conveying atomic warheads.

Mr Trump scorned the claim in a tweet, saying: "It won't occur."
